Allergic to Winter and Things I Know

As a friend so cleverly put it, maybe I am allergic to winter. After all, the cold gives me goose bumps, dry itchy skin, scratchy throat, a cough that lingers, and cabin fever.....sounds legit. There are actually only 5 days left of February. I think it is easier to get through the winter after February is gone. We only have a few weeks until Spring technically starts, so we look forward to that.

What tricks do you use to get through the unsatisfying parts of the winter months? I imagine the beach. I put summer like pictures on my screen saver and desk top scene. I pull out the beach towels and use them in place of the regular towels. Wearing shorts around the house get me motivated to move more (so I don't get chilled) and has the double benefit of helping me fit more exercise into my day.

If you are feeling like me, try doing a search of all the Bible verses that use words like sun, warm, or light. Maybe even ocean, or sand if you're into the beach! Make a list with your kids of the things you like best about each season and then place on the fridge the things you still want to accomplish before the cold turns to hot. We usually just list what we want to do during the summer and post it where we all can see it. I think it helps us be grateful for our current "season" of life if we keep a thankful list posted all through the year. They say when times are tough to make a list of the ways God has worked in your life....to make a "grateful list" and remember all we have to be thankful for. It usually turns my attitude around pretty quickly.

This week our family is facing many "unknowns" in our near future. We can't control them or change them. We just have to trust. So I think I will go work on my list of things I do know.
Here are a few to get you started as well,
I know God is in control.
I know God will never leave us.
I know God makes all things new.
I know God takes care of us....always.
I know February is almost over!
I know Winter is followed by Spring.
I know I have been given much.
I know I have much to be thankful for.
I know....
What do you know?
